Bootcamp BGP/4

The Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) is the IP standard for the Exterior Gateway Routing Protocols (EGP) and connects different Autonomous systems (AS). BGP is used in the global Internet, for the connection to the Internet and for the connection between different subnetworks of an enterprise.
The intensive workshop BGP/4 gives you a practical overview of the basic protocol mechanisms of BGP/4 as well as of relevant subjects for implementing the connection to IGPs such as OSPF or IS-IS. Additional topics such as route reflectors, peer groups and BGP confederations complete the technical understanding.

Contents:

  • External vs. internal BGP
  • BGP message types
  • BGP path attributes
  • BGP decision algorithm
  • Internal BGP mechanisms
  • Routing policies
  • Peer groups
  • Route reflectors
  • BGP confederations

Length of the workshop and required knowledge:

The workshop has been designed for a length of 2 days. It is also possible to be tailored to your individual needs, of course.
The participants should have sound knowledge in TCP/IP as well as in IGP routing (RIP, OSPF, EIGRP).
